Every one of us wants a fresh glowing skin, free form acne, dark circles and eczema.
Turmeric is an all-natural skincare ingredient that can be applied topically for glowing and a health skin. Surprisingly, this excellent spice that we use for cooking curries can be used as a skin-brightening face mask.
Turmeric contains a photochemical called curcumin, which can benefit the body, both inside and out.
The turmeric basic face mask is easy to make and acts as a moisturizer, exfoliator and reduces redness. It brightens the skin and makes it look fresh and clean.
Common ingredients that work well for home facial masks are turmeric, honey, avocado, eggs, yoghurt and milk.The advantage of home facial masks is that you can try various combinations of ingredients before settling on one that suits your skin the best. This can be done without wasting a lot of money on commercial masks.
Preparation before applying the turmeric mask: Wash your face with running water and remove all makeup. If your hair is long, tie it up at the back. Wear a T-shirt you are not too attached to, in case it gets stained.
Making the turmeric mask by mixing the different ingredients:
Turmeric, Milk, and Honey Face Mask:
Ingredients:
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon milk
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Use a gentle facial cleanser to remove all traces of makeup.
- Gently wash your face with warm water to open up pores and allow the nutrients to sink in. Pat your face dry before using this mask.
- Mix the above ingredients thoroughly in a small bowl.
- Using clean fingertips, slather a thin amount of the turmeric face mask onto your face. Sit for five to 10 minutes or until the face mask dries up completely.
- Rinse off with cool water and a mild facial cleanser
Ingredients:
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon avocado
- 1 teaspoon yogurt
- Mash the avocado with the back of a fork or puree it in a blender until you get a smooth paste with no chunks. Got leftovers? You can either eat up the remaining avocado (yum!) or slather it over your hands and legs before a bath for extra-soft skin.
- Thoroughly combine the pureed avocado, turmeric powder, and yogurt in a small mixing bowl.
- Smear the mask lightly over your clean face in a gentle circular motion. Let it sit for five minutes.
- Rinse off the mask with cold water. Pat dry with a fluff towel and say hello to gorgeous skin!
Ingredients:
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Thoroughly combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Don't worry if the mixture gets runny—you can just add a little wheat or rice flour to make it thick again.
- Use a face brush or clean finger tips to rub the mixture into your clean, dry face and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. The maximum amount of time you can keep it on for? Until it dries completely—beyond that, there's no need to keep it on for longer.
- After the time is up, wash the mixture off with warm water and pat your face dry. Behold your glowing face!
