Change Yourself For A Better Future And The Life Here After - Islamic View Point.

Introduction:
During our life we come across many reminders and tests that call us towards Allah, and give us a chance to change and improve ourselves. All humans can make mistakes but a good believer is the one who realizes his/ her mistake immediately and repents sincerely to Allah and changes oneself so as not to repeat the same sin.
If we try to remember that during our life time how many reminders have we come across, how many Islamic lectures have we heard, how many Quranic verses have we read with understanding, the answer will be countless but what change did these brought in our lives is sometimes none or minimal. We are reminded many times about getting closer to Allah, to leave our bad habits, not to waste our time, stop taking usury and so on, inside our heart most of the times we know that what is wrong and what is right but in the end we are still the same people that we are. We do not make any effort to give up the bad habit or to bring any change on our selves. So what is the benefit of all theses reminders???

The problem is that we don't want to change ourselves but we want our life to get better, we hope and expect to be rewarded in the here after, we want our supplications to be accepted, we want other people to be nice with us and so on....

Allah says in the Holy Quran in  Surah Raad Chapter 13 Verse 11:
...... Surely never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves.....
Steps That Can Help You Change Yourselves To Better Humans And Muslims:

1. Asking Allah for help is indeed the first requirement but making dua alone is not sufficient, we need to bring changes and we need to improve ourselves. We need to work hard and avoid the mistakes that are creating problems in our lives.

2. The Holy Quran is the ultimate guidance for the humanity , it is pure word from God (Allah) and the first and foremost step to bring better changes in our lives is to read the Holy Quran with understanding and apply it in our day to day life.

3. In our past almost all of us have done many mistakes and sins, so we need to make a sincere repentance to Allah and make a true promise not to commit the sins intentionally.

4. We might have hurt someone , we may have not returned the money to a friend whom we promised to return soon, we may have called some one with bad names, in all such cases we need to ask Allah for forgiveness as well as the person who was hurt by our bad deeds.

5. After repentance and a promise to change ourselves it is very important to stay steadfast and not to repeat the same mistakes again and again. This is very hard at times and cannot happen overnight. This needs effort from one own self and this is what will bring a change.

6. A person may not be offering the five compulsory prayers a day, so just by thinking to start praying from tomorrow will not bring about the change, you need to wake up at time , make ablution and then know the proper way of praying and then continue praying at time, not for a day or two but for always.

7. Someone may have a bad habit of listening to music, changing and avoiding it also needs great effort, you may listen to the recitation of the Holy Quran instead to remove the bad habit of listening to music.

8. All people in this life are tested in one way or other and staying patient and steadfast during difficult times and not to get away from truth is also a main step in changing one selves. Sometimes things don't happen the way we want, sometimes we may suffer some financial loss, or deaths of beloved ones, this is the test and Allah sees how we react. If we stay steadfast and hold on to faith Allah will give us enormous rewards. Allah says in the Holy Quran in Surah Ankaboot Chapter 29 verse 2:
Do men think that they will be left alone on saying " we believe" and that they will not be tested?
So it is very important to remember that just by saying I will change myself will not bring about the change instead it is just the beginning and  It needs to be continued even during times of difficulties and stresses.

9. Early days of a change are the most difficult ones similar to a new seedling plant that needs the most care and effort. If a person can continue to stay steadfast in improving a habit and bring a change in the early few days , he/she will surely success and the later days will get more easy with will need much lesser effort.

10. No Matter how you spent your day today you must always strive to make your tomorrow a better day and be more closer to Allah and to be away from sins and bad deeds as much as you can. Continuous striving will become the  key to success.

11. The day to improve ourselves to a better person, a better human being and a better Muslim should come sooner than later.

12. Allah says in The Holy Quran In Surah Hadid Chapter 57 verse 16:
Has the time not come for those who are believers for their hearts to be soften towards the remembrance of Allah and of the truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given The Book aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors ( disobedient).
It is very clear from the above verse that we need not to wait for tomorrow or a articular age to improve ourselves and to believe in the truth of Islam and remember Allah instead, this time should be now from the very moment we should change ourselves and leave out all the bad habits.  The more delays we make in bringing about a change, the more time we give shatan (devil) to misguide us.

13. It is always important to remain dedicated and focused in making our selves better Muslims and believers, Even if there are slow changes they will one day make a bog change if we stay consistent.

14. We need to strive and work hard to make this life as our here after a better as Allah says in the Holy Quran in Surah Najam Chapter 53 verse 39:
That man can have nothing but what he strives for.
So why not strive and work hard to be good Muslims and try to do good deeds. Change ourselves to a better human. Even for doing a bad deed we need to strive and work , so why not use the same energy for a better deed.

May Allah guide us all and make us better Muslims. Ameen.
