Mary- Mother Of Jesus (Mariam Peace be Upon her) Mentioned In The Holy Quran

Mariam or Mary -mother of Jesus (pbuh) is one of the most respected woman for Muslims and she is the only woman mentioned by name in the Holy Quran. Indeed there is a full chapter after her name, Surah Mariam the chapter 19 of the Holy Quran. Allah has mentioned her at numerous occasions in Holy Quran and also where ever Prophet Essa or Jesus has been mentioned, he is mentioned as Essa Ibn Mariam (Jesus - the son of Mary)

The Birth Of Mariam (Mary):
A description of her birth in a noble and righteous family is described as follows in the Holy Quran:
Allah did chose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all people. Offsprings one of the other; and Allah hears and knows all things. Behold! When the wife of Imran said: O my Lord! I do dedicate unto You what is in my wombfor Your special service, so accept this of me, for You hear and know all things. When she was delivered, she said:O my Lord! Behold! I delivered a female child, And Allah knew best what she brought forth- and the male is not like a female. i have named her Maray, and I seek refuge with You(for Your protection) for her and her offspring, from devil (shatan) the rejected. (Surah Al-Imran Chapter 3 verses 33-36)
Her Acceptance By Allah As A Righteous Woman And Servant Of God:
The word Mary or Mariam means maid servant of God. Although Mariam's mother vowed to giver her unborn child for the service of God hoping it to be a male child, still when she delivered a female she was accepted by God as mentioned in the following verses;

So her Lord accepted her with good acceptance..... (Surah Al Imran chapter 3 verse 37)
Her Upbringing:
Since Mary (Mariam) was given for the service of God she grew up in a religious place , a place of worship. The story continues :
Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty, to the care of Zakariyya (a prophet and saint of that time) was she assigned. Every time that he (Zakariyya) entered (her) chamber to see her, he found her supplied with sustenance (Fruits) . He said: O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you? She said: From Allah: for Allah provides sutenance to whom He pleases without measure. (Surah Al Imran chapter 3 verse 37)
Mary- A Chosen Woman:
Allah chose Mary (Mariam as a chosen woman among all the women of the world. This is described in Holy Quran as follows:
Behold! the angels said: O Mary! Allah has chosen you and purified you- chosen you above the women of all nations.  (Surah Al-Imran Chapter 3 verse 42)
Glad Tidings For A Miraculous Birth:  The Story about Mary getting the glad tidings of bearing a son  (Prophet Jesus) miraculously without any male intervention is described in the Holy Quran as follows:
Behold! the angels said O Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Him, his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of ( the company of ) those nearest to Allah. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity, and he shall be (of the company of) the righteous. She said: O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me? he said: Even so Allah creates what He wills, when he has decreed a plan, he but says to it: Be and it is.  ( Surah Al-Imran chapter 3 verses 45-47)
The same story is repeated in more detail in Surah Mariam chapter 19 verses 16-21:
Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east. She placed a screen from them, then We sent to her Our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. She said I seek refuge from you to (Allah) most Gracious (come not near) if you do fear Allah. He said: No I am only a Messenger from your Lord (to announce) to you the gift of a holy son. She said : How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?. He said So (it will be) your Lord says: That is easy for Me and (We wish) to appoint him as a sign unto men and a mercy from Us, it is a matter so decreed.
The Birth Of Prophet Jesus: The story about Mary giving birth to prophet Jesus is described in the Holy Quran as follows:
So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree; she cried in ( her anguish) ; Ah! would that I had died before this ! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!. But (a voice) said to her from beneath the (palm tree): Grieve not! for your Lord has provided a rivulet beneath you; and shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm tree, and it will fall fresh ripe dates upon you. So eat and drink and cool your eyes. and if you see any human , say I have vowed a fast to Allah most Gracious, and this day will I enter into no talk with any human being. (Surah Mariam Chapter 19 verses 22-26)
Prophet Jesus Talking As A Baby: The verses continue as follows:
At length she brought the baby to her people, carrying him (in her arms) . They said : O Mary truly a strange thing have you brought. O sister of Aron! your father was not a man of evil , nor your mother a woman unchaste. But she pointed to the baby. they said how can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle? He said: I am indeed a servant of Allah, He has given me revelation and made me a prophet, and He has made me blessed wheresoever I be and has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live. he has made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable. So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that i die and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)
Such (was) Jesus son of Mary, it is a statement of truth about they dispute. it is not befitting to the (majesty of ) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it: Be and it is.
Surah Mariam Chapter 19 verses 27-35)
Conclusion: Finally one another verse concludes Mary as a virgin woman giving birth to Prophet Jesus as one of the Miracles from Allah and that she was a Chosen Servant of Allah:
And Mary, the daughter of Imran , who guarded her chastity ; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit, and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His revelations, and was one of the devout (servants).  Surah Tahreem Chapter 66 verse 12)
