The Holy Quran - Read it With Understanding And Follow It

The Holy Quran is the most positive book in the world. It has been retained in its pure form without any changes and there are thousands of people who have memorized it cover to cover even very young children.
It is the last and the final revelation from Almighty God to the Whole of the Human kind. It was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) about 1400 years ago. It confirms the previous revelations and the prophets and it was revealed in Arabic language although it has been translated in almost every language of the world.
The Holy Quran is a guide to the Human kind and shows us the way of life. But in order to understand and follow, it is important to read it with the understanding and the meaning without which we can not get the great benefits.

1. When you read or listen to the Holy Quran , if you want to benefit from it concentrate on it, pay close attention and take the message which our Lord, our Creator has given to us. Quran is the word of Allah. Allah says about it in Surah Qaaf chapter 50 verse 37
Certainly in this (Quran) is a message for anyone that has a heart and understanding or who gives ears while he is heedful.
2. It is very important to read the Quran with the translation in the language you understand the best because without knowing what is being said it is not possible to follow the commands and get the benefit from it. Allah says in the Holy Quran in Surah Saad Chapter 38 verse 29:
Here is a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down unto you, which is blessed so that people may apply their minds to its signs, and the men of wisdom may reflect.
3. The Holy Quran is a book of mercy and wisdom, it has warnings to the heedless and assurance to those in doubt. It gives hope to those who are in despair and comfort to the sufferings. All these benefits can only be gained when when reads it and understands it and also follows its teachings. Allah says in surah Al-Qamar chapter 54 verse 17:
And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there anyone who will be warned.
4. The Holy Quran is one of the most widely respected and read book in the world but unfortunately it is read by majority of people without understanding. This is the reason that Muslims are not getting the true benefit from this miraculous book sent by Allah. It is a tragic misfortune that a person reads the Holy Quran but his life is unchanged and his heart untouched simply because he don't know the meaning of what he is reciting.

5 Allah says in the Holy Quran in Sural Al-imran chapter 3 verse 110:

You (Muslims) are the best of people, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is bad, and believing in Allah
How can a Muslim be the best of mankind without knowing what is good and what is bad which is clearly explained in the Holy Quran when it is not read with understanding. And without knowing it and without enjoining what is good and forbidding what is bad we are not fit to be called as the best of the people.

6. The word Quran is derived from the Arabic word 'Qara' which means 'book', it is also derived from the Arabic word 'Iqra' which means 'to read' or 'to recite' or 'to proclaim'. How can one proclaim the message of Almighty Allah given the the Holy Quran without understanding the meanings.

7. The another word used for the Holy Quran is 'The Furqan' which means 'the criteria to judge right from wrong', this can only be done if one understands the message of the Quran.

8 The most common excuse given by Muslims for not understanding the message of Holy Quran is that they do not know Arabic as a language. about 80% of Muslims around the world don't know Arabic as a language, but the translations are available in almost all the major world languages and could be found easily in this advanced time of internet.

9. We Muslims often give excuse of not reading the Holy Quran and understandings its meanings saying that they are busy in the studies, the job or family. We never think that we spend years reading thick volume of books in schools and colleges, just to get a professional degree. Why don't we have time to read the message of our Creator Allah the Almighty. It does not take much time to read the Quran. When we can spend years in getting a degree for our worldly benefits why can't we spent at least an hour a day to read the Quran with translation which will help us in this world as well as the life hereafter.

10. Suppose you make a friend who is from a different country and one day he writes you a letter in his language which you don't understand. Once you get the letter the first thing you will do is that go and get it translated to a language that you can understand so that you can know what your friend has written to you. Then why not we should read the translation of the Holy Quran in the language which we can understand and get the message which Our God has sent for us.

11. The Holy Quran is not only for the Muslims but it is for the whole mankind. It guides to the straight path and shows the way of life. It is mentioned in Surah ibrahim chapter 14 verse 1;
Alif-Lam-Ra. A book which We have revealed unto you, in order that you might lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light- by the permission of their Lord- to the way of Him the Exalted in power, worthy of all praise.
12. Allah says in Holy Quran in surah Al-zumar chapter 39 verse 41:
Certainly We have revealed the book to you in truth, for instructing mankind. He then, that receives guidance benefits his own soul; but he that strays injures his own soul. Nor are you set a custodian over them.
13.It is a misunderstanding among many muslims that the Holy Quran is only a book for muslims, and they don't want to share it with the non-muslims. It is indeed a book for the whole mankind. instead it should be encouraged to spread the message and the translations of the Holy Quran to non-muslims so that they may know the true message.

14. It is our duty to read the Holy Quran with understandings and reflect the message and help change our lives.

15. Holy Quran is a book to be read on a daily basis and not to be kept covered on the highest shelves, not to be only read in the month of ramadan in a speed without understanding what is being read. May Allah guide us all and make our Quran and its teachings as a part of our life Ameen.
