Keep Your High Blood pressure In Check- Stay healthy

High blood pressure is pretty much a symptom less condition, but it has potentially serious consequences. If left unrecognized and untreated it can lead to a number of serious conditions like heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and many other health related complications. Here are a few simple ways to keep your blood pressure under control.

1. Watch the scale closely- Keep your body weight under control:
If you are over weight, loosing even 5 pounds can lower your blood pressure. And a new study suggests that the opposite may also be true. Research has shown that people with normal weight if gain as little as 5 pounds over the course of eight weeks may have a rise in their blood pressure.

2. Eat Yogurt:
Preliminary research shows that eating certain foods like yogurt may modestly reduce the blood pressure. More studies are needed to confirm this fact but still it is important as consuming diet that mainly consists of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy products helps keep blood pressure under control.

3. Limit Your sodium intake:
According to American Heart Association limiting sodium to less than 1,500 mg  a day is important to maintain normal blood pressure and thus prevents major heart diseases.

4. Get Active:
Regular exercise not only lowers the blood pressure but also helps in maintaining a normal body weight. Exercise strengthens the heart and reduces stress.

5. Get Advice from Your Doctor:

It is always important to get a regular routine physical examination from your doctor even if you are not having any medical problem or symptoms. You doctor will always help you understand your medical condition and make you live a healthy life.
